Everything?
what does it mean to give God everything? i have been struggling with this question for awhile. well, actually i guess i havent really been struggling with the question itself, i guess i stuggle with the answer. i know what it the answer is...i have to give God everything. literally everything. grades, friendships, boy stuff, family, my future...etc. really giving God my future is super hard for me. i find myself saying okay God, your in control, do what you want with my life, but then i try to do it myself. i like to tell God what i want my future to be, and then be like okay, make it happen God. today, God was like, amanda, that isnt giving me your future. its hard to do, but at the same time, not really. its kinda simple actually. and i praise God that i can give him everything, and that i dont have to worry about the rest. it makes all that overwhelming stuff thats going on in my head, not so overwhleming anymore.

I hear ya, on all that. The future, what is the future exactly? Will it even get a chance to come? Giving Him the things of the present are my biggest challenge right now.
i think we relate the present and the future because we think that the future will resemble the present .... so we put it in one big pot - the past, the present and the future - especially us girls - that whole spaghetti thing, right?
we try to live in the present, but we think about the future, in light of the present and the past... the "ordinary" present sure does trip me up -- i allow those little inconveniences to rob me of joy and peace, all the while wondering what the future will hold as if "it will be better when..." The reality in this life is that the past, present and future all hold many "ordinary" days for most of us. Not in a bad way, that's just what makes up for most of our lives. the problem is that we always think toward and pray toward that big moment of "extra-ordinary" -- the graduation, the wedding, the baby, the new ministry, the "big church", etc.-- all the while the ordinary is happening all around us and we're focused on what is yet to come (or it may never come???) hmmmm...
remember these verses you posted sometime, mando? (i think you did)
"So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life — your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life —and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him."
just live there, honey... i'm praying that for myself too
guess there really is a lot to be said for just day-in, day-out trail-walking with Jesus. we consider some days mundane and mediocre, but seems like each day serves significant purpose if we let it. maybe we humans think we need to be WOWED with something big or the day isn't worth much. thanks for the perspective!
mandi ... it's thanksgiving ... what happened to ongoing Thankful list??? :-)
