Two in one day?
yeah, yeah, i know, two blogs in one day. im getting kinda crazy. college makes me in a writing mood for some reason...
kay, so i love college. really, i do. one major thing i am loving right now ((besides the social aspect)) is classes. not homework. classes. i learn so much from just sitting in class for 50 minutes and listening to my teacher. especially in bible survey and intro to ed. lately in intro we have been talking about culture in the classroom. it has got me thinking. like on monday, we were talking about "the golden rule". everyone knows what it is, but i am going to say it anyway:"do unto other as you would have them do unto you." well monday, my professor was saying how this statement is good in and of itself, but really how we as teachers shouldnt apply this "rule" too much in our classrooms. now, when he first said this i was like, whoa now. but as he explained it more, it made great since. he was explaining how in our classroom, students arent going to be just like us, so we cant really treat them like we would want to be treated. we must put oursleves in their shoes first, then treat them how we would want to be treated if we were them. i guess i kinda knew that before. God does that to me alot, shows me something i really already knew, and just shows it to me in a different way.
like in survey, i dont know how many times i have heard about the stories in Genesis. but i just finished reading the whole book yesterday. i cant honestly say it taught me a whole lot. well, i take that back. i know alot more now about abraham and all that then i did before. i feel smart. but i cant say that i learned any new life lessons from it. actually, genesis has kinda been making me ask tons and tons of questions. today, we were talking about the whole abraham sacrificing isacc thing. well, it was supposed to sybolize Jesus dying, right? well, if it was then i dont understand. so, God knew he was going to send Jesus? i mean, that sounds stupid because i know he knows the future. but its just that whole well if he knew Jesus was going to come and all that then why not do it sooner or something? was it because of mary? i dont know. God sending Jesus is something i am obviousally so, so thankful for, and i dont deserve his forgivness at all, it just confuses me alot of the time. why did God create the tree if he knew it would lead to sending his one and only Son? ahhhh. i have been asking these same questions my whole entire life i feel like. i still believe in the whole thing that God wanted us to have free will. im glad i get the choice. its much more rewarding, im not saying that i wish Jesus didnt come or anything like that. just the whole thing is so so confusing.
oh, and another question that was raised in class the other day that i didnt really understand?...does God have free will? i dont really even understand the question fully. i am a confused mess. but i am so thankful and blessed to be here learning. :)

WOW Amanda .... unfortunately you sound way too much like me. Keep those questions coming, though. In about 20 years you'll be closer to the answer to some of them. At 42, I realize some answers have been slower to come than I had hoped, but mostly it's because I'm a very slow learner. Hope I didn't pass that on too!
BTW, the Holy Spirit helps alot ... Jesus sent Him to help us for a reason! :)
Questions! Questions! Questons! I love hearing you question and think and stretch and wow. The best part to me about some questions and God is how He keeps some of the answers to Himself! I know it can be frustrating but it is so meaningful when He does give you understanding and, I'm coming to learn, even when He doesn't. Never stop with the questions!
